1. Durability

2. Camera Quality

While taking pictures with your phone is nothing new, the way this camera captures images is different than any phone on the market. Thinking about how the human eye works, your pupils expand or shrink in order to let in more or less light. The same concept applies to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, meaning you can see the camera lens open or close to capture images in all types of lighting. This feature allows the camera to capture images in f2.4 to f1.5, improving off of the low-light success of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. This comes with other great camera improvements such as optic image stabilization, Live focus (similar to Apple’s Portrait mode), and the highest DxOMark rating among all smartphones.

3. Super Slow-mo

In addition to high-quality images and videos, the cameras can capture moments in Super Slow-mo. Recording video of 960fps at 720p is something that hasn’t been seen in a mainstream phone until now and it’s never been easier! Once the camera is set to capture Super Slow-mo, it will automatically detect movement to create a 0.2 second moment into a 6 second slow-motion video. Music can then be added to these videos and shared or converted as a GIF.

4. AR Emoji

AR Emoji is a new camera mode that comes with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ where you can create a customized cartoon version of yourself. All you have to do is turn on the AR mode in the camera, take a picture of yourself, and customize the character. These characters will mimic your facial expressions and movements that can be sent as videos or converted into GIFs with various backgrounds and filters.
