Q: How Equipment Installment / Accessory Installment terms be handled at close?
A: They will be transferred in full to T-Mobile, with existing balances, monthly payment terms, and promotional discounts continuing after the transaction closes.
Q: What will happen to my price plan / cost with T-Mobile at close?
A: T-Mobile has publicly committed that you will have the choice to keep your UScellular plan and price upon completion of the transaction
Q: Couldn’t I just switch to T-Mobile now vs signing new contract with UScellular? (i.e. why should I stay vs. switch now).
A: You can keep your plan at close of the transaction, but you can’t if you switch to T-Mobile now. If you are one of our many customers that mix and matches plan tiers, for example, you will want to wait until the close of the transaction. T-Mobile’s plans do not let you mix and match, so to get more of their benefits, depending on what plan you want, you would today have to move every line on the account to that level of plan. Additionally, note that T-Mobile has 2-year device payoff periods instead of 3-year payoff periods.
You will no longer be on the UScellular network if you switch to T-Mobile now. In much of our footprint, our network has a significant coverage advantage over T-Mobile. Once the transaction closes and T-Mobile integrates our networks, the best parts of T-Mobile’s and UScellular’s networks will be available to all customers of the combined entity – but not before.
You may have a promotion or EIP on your account, and will lose that promotion and have to pay off that EIP in full if you switch now. You will lose that promotion if you switch to T-Mobile before the transaction closes, and would need to pay off the full remaining balance on your account if you switch now. But you won’t if you wait.
You may be eligible for some great promotions at UScellular, right here and right now, and those promotions will carry over through the close of the transaction. Additionally, we will continue to offer aggressive pricing and new promotions until the transaction closes.
