1. Shoeboxed

4. ItsDeductible Donation Tracker

A companion app, Itsdecutible donation tracker (iOS) from turbo tax uses eBay to calculate the IRS approved value of any your gifts. The app helps users keep track of any tax-deductible charitable donations. Use your iPhone or iPad to keep track of what charity you donated to and how much you gave. For any cash or property donations that exceed $250, written proof of date and value of the donation will be required by the IRS. If you are making a non-cash gift that exceeds $500, the app will help you fill out your Form 8283. Have you been patiently waiting for your tax return? Now you can go directly to the source. The IRS is featuring their very first app, IRS2Go (Android, iOS) which by no means is the flashiest tax app on the market, but it will provide useful instructions for filing your taxes. The basic app will be more helpful for those who e-file their taxes. It can take several weeks for those of you who filed a paper return, but those who e-filed can expect to see their tax refund results within a week. The app also features helpful tax tips, and for those who qualify, they offer free tax counseling. If you have any outstanding payments, you can pay them through the app, for your convenience.

Created by Intuit Inc, Taxcaster, (Andriod, iOS) allows you to estimate your income tax return in minutes. By entering basic personal details, your income, and taxable income, the app can generate an accurate estimation of what you can expect for your tax refund. The app only serves a single purpose, but it gives you the ability to prepare for the future.

8. H&R Tax Prep

If you are new to the idea e-filing taxes or an advanced veteran, H&R Tax Prep (Android, iOS) is an excellent way to get this year’s taxes done early. The deluxe version of this app is paid and geared towards those with difficult tax circumstances. The free version has a step-by-step process that starts with the user importing their W-2 to the app, through a mobile device. Personal information is required to complete the process to prepare your Federal tax return.

9. QuickBooks

​An app similar to Shoeboxed, Quickbooks (Android, iOS) allows you to do your accounting on the go. By adding an expense to the app, you can input how much you're spending, how you're paying for the transaction, the bank account used, who you paid, the category, and any notes about the sale. With Quickbooks, you can snap a photo of your receipt and attached it to your transaction (saved to the application) which can be used as acceptable proof for tax purposes.
